Hello, hello! This month’s newsletter is coming at you a little later than usual because things have been chaotic, but mostly in a good way. And in that spirit, let’s start with the book stuff because there’s a lot to fill you in on!
book stuff

icymi on Instagram — WE HAVE PREORDER GOODIES! If you preorder Happy Medium from Curious Iguana, you will not only get it 15% off and signed/personalized (enter any personalization requests into the order notes field at checkout), but also receive the world’s cutest 4x6 art print and vinyl sticker!! Thank you for supporting my local indie!
You can also still get signed/personalized copies of Mrs. Nash’s Ashes from there as well!
And Happy Medium is now available to request on Netgalley. Which means people I do not know are going to be reading it very shortly. Which isn’t terrifying at all!
Also, we recently announced my deal for book 3, currently titled FINDERS KEEPERS! I’m so excited to working with my wonderful editor and the other great folks at Berkley. It’s an honor to get to keep writing my silly little stories for you all.
what’s on my mind
Thank you to everyone who reached out to ask how my daughter is adjusting to kindergarten! The short answer to that question is a Larry David ehh shrug. On one hand, her teacher has said she is a “great role model for her classmates” (unsurprising, considering her favorite thing is to follow rules that are being enforced by adults who are not her parents). On the other, she often complains that she’s bored and also about being responsible for setting up her own lunch and that one girl in her class cries a lot and it makes her feel like crying too. So it’s a mixed bag! But we’re slowly but surely all getting there, I think.
Speaking of my daughter, she’s been taking piano lessons, and that is going surprisingly well considering her age. Also I, a person who started trying to learn piano in my teens and gave up after about a summer because I was a cellist and did not appreciate having to read treble clef, have also been (re)learning a bit through sitting in on her lessons and helping her at home, so that’s nice.
Sorry this section isn’t more interesting. I’ve been really busy drafting FINDERS KEEPERS! And I still somehow have about 50k words to go! Ahhh!!
And they’re currently planning on doing our deck rebuild the same week my daughter has a wonky school schedule because of parent-teacher conferences and my husband is out of town for work so please keep me in your thoughts as my Busiest Week of Fall approaches.
I’ve also been purchasing (stress buying?) a lot of stuff in preparation for doing more travel. Where am I going? When? Who knows! But I now have a very cool backpack duffel and belt bag for wherever and whenever it is!1

I thought I was bi/demi, but it turns out my sexuality is actually just Brennan Lee Mulligan saying “Get on your knees” on this week’s episode of Make Some Noise. No single line of dialogue has been this effective since Fleabag season 2. Good lord.
For my fellow plus sized girlies: this All in Motion belt bag from Target fits me as both a crossbody and a waist bag, and I’m an 18/20. So if you’ve been considering something like this but weren’t sure if it would fit, hopefully that helps!
